Background of study
Globally, the majority of educational institutions take attendance manually. It is not only time consuming, but also unsecure, unreliable, and susceptible to loss. Some institutions use punch cards for attendance, which makes it difficult for teachers to keep track of a large number of students because, by using punch cards, a student can assist other students or a friend to punch their card, even if the other student is absent or late for class, making it unreliable. According to Yongqiang and Ji (2018), to address these issues, I created a superior Web-based solution that is fully responsive and can be used on mobile devices, tablets, and other computer systems. In this system, data are maintained safe and secure, and attendance information for specific or all students in a certain class can be retrieved easily and quickly; the report is created automatically.
Significantly, Moksin and Yasin (2019) asserts that every student's attendance is critical. A single absence can have a significant impact on school achievement. The majority of high school pupils skip lessons because they find them dull. Others fail to attend lessons due to laziness, preferring to go to computer stores or play games, while some students cannot reject the idea of a buddy asking them out during class time. Some of these behaviours are not disclosed to parents or guardians since the typical method of telling them is by bringing the parents over through the pupils. Futhermore, Qaiser and Khan (2016) opined the authorities would use this to inform the parents about the student's attendance level. This procedure takes a long time, and parents may be unable to attend due to prior commitments, work, or geography. These are the reasons why parents/guardians are not notified about their children's absence.
I presented an Online Barcode Attendance System with Short Message Service in this manner (SMS). Its purpose is to notify parents when their child is away from school. Attendance Monitoring System with SMS provides a quick way to notify the parent at any time and from any location.
